Giving Back to the Community

Children's Bereavement Program

Abbotsford Hospice Society

In partnership with the Abbotsford Hospice Society, the Creative Music Factory uses music in the Hospice's Bereavement Program to help support bereaving children.

Children can have emotions and feelings that are often too difficult to express in words. Music can be a way through which children can tell their stories of loss, grief and mourning as well as be a way to contain and explore powerful and confusing feelings and emotions. It is our goal to help the healing process in these young souls through the far-reaching positive effects of music.

Exciting News!

Two students will be chosen to assist Linda in bringing her music program to the Abbotsford Hospice for the Children's Bereavement Program.

The children, factory students and Linda will enjoy singing, dancing, dressing-up, theatre, instrument construction and more! Everyone must be in costume to enter our music room!

The Abbotsford Hospice Society is pleased to partner with Linda Jane to offer Support through Music for Children grieving the loss of someone close to them.

Linda considers it an honour to be involved with the Children's Bereavement Program with the Abbotsford Hospice. Giving back to the community by sharing the Factory's music programs and instruments with the children.

Community Services

We are pleased to announce that The Factory is on the road every year, performing at various community venues. Giving back music to the community is high on our priority list. This also assists students in performing for their examinations with Royal Conservatory of Music, and Canadian Conservatory of Music. Students who are taking exams with Royal Conservatory of Music earn community service awards as well as with the Creative Music factory. Those who are not taking exams also earn Community Service Awards with the Factory.

Students who are these coordinators, set up, assist residents back to their rooms, disassemble the equipment and load the waiting vehicles for transport. Students also perform at fairs in the lower mainland, and local markets. We also encourage students to sing or play their instrument such as violin or piano in a venue where they are involved in other activities outside of the Factory. We have pianos available for transport thanks to Darren Lambert from Podzelny Pianos and the Creative Music Factory.

Each year, a student is chosen from the group to do their volunteer training certificate with Hospice and assist me in doing the Children's Bereavement Program.

We welcome any requests for performing from the community.

Rotary Thanks

Rotary EmblemThe Abbotsford Rotary was instrumental (no pun intended!) in bringing this special program to the community. All monies from the funding you have provided will be used for instruments, supplies and goodies for the children.

It means very much to me to be able to provide this service and with your help,
a vision has become reality.. Linda.
