Student Policy and Program Registration

Factory's policy for students

• Payment policy: - Post dated cheques for the 1st or 15th of every month. It is the factory's policy that all fees for lessons are paid in advance.  Non-refundable Registration fee for all students is $30.00 or family rate of $50.00 and required to secure a spot. Fees will depend on the discipline or program.  If payment is not received by the 2nd scheduled lesson, lessons will cease until payment is made.

• A $20.00 service fee will be charged for NSF cheques.

• Cancellation policy:  If cancellation occurs within first 2 months of commencement of lessons, an administrative fee of $40.00 will be retained. All students are expected to complete the full school year.  If cancellation or termination of this contract for any reason on the part of the Client, following the first 2 months occurs there must be one month's notice given.  If one month's notice is not given then a one month fee for "cancellation without notice" will be required.

• The Creative Music factory has the right to terminate a contract at any time due to any repeated disruptive behavior of a parent or student, during lesson time or in the presence of other parents or students.  There will be a termination fee of one month's payment paid to the Creative Music Factory upon termination.  As the proprietor of the business, I Endeavour to create and maintain a safe and friendly environment for all that use the studio.  It is my responsibility whenever there is a threat to the integrity of the studio environment to act upon it without delay.

Program registration & Fees

• Early registration is recommended to secure a lesson time.

• Annual NON-REFUNDABLE registration fee of $30.00 per student, $50.00 per family.

• $33.00/hr for piano/violin/vocal

• $32.00/hr for Guitar

• $20.00/hr for Group kindergarten classes

• There is an "Open door policy" to all parents and students for discussion regarding their children's lessons with Linda, before and after lessons, telephone or email.  This will be confidential and at no time, occur in the presence of other parents or students.

• Missed Lessons: Make-up lessons will only occur for illness!  In the event of an illness, notice must be given by parent not the student as soon as possible.   If notice is given at time of lesson, there will be no make up lesson or refund.  For Group Kindergarten classes there are no make up lessons.  If family holidays occur outside of the school's holidays, lessons will be forfeited.   If a student can not attend a class and does not fit the category above, they may switch with another student and a list will provided upon request. It is up to the student or parent to make these arrangements.

Summer Lessons

Will be provided for piano and Group Kindergarten classes, and will be suited to the needs of each family taking into consideration the family vacation times.

RCM Examinations

RCM deadline will be given to each student writing RCM examinations.  Applications available from Linda or online at http://www.rcmexaminations.org/.

• Practice sheets will be available and mandatory for all students to be filled out and signed by parents if applicable.

• Special information: A form will need to be filled out by all parents or caregivers as well as older students providing specific information of allergies (latex, food, environmental) or conditions that may adversely affect the individual before attending the first lesson or class.  Please be aware that this music room is a "nut free zone".

• Parent's attendance: For all disciplines.  Parents are welcome to attend the first lesson, or until the children have settled in, and then it's "teacher and students only", as we need our space to start creating wonderful and exciting music in all forms.

• Equipment: Piano students -Parents please provide your children with a tuned piano and metronome.

• Breaks: We follow the school system breaks for Christmas and Spring break as well as all statutory holidays being honored.

• Please be aware: At times during the school year, photographs will be taken of the children for promoting the Creative Music Factory.

• Awards:  Mozart Composition award, Clara Schuman award, most dedicated, most improved, outstanding achievement award and various other awards will be given at the Christmas and year end recitals, where applicable.
